Tour Overview

Meet your local guide in front of Saint Stephen's Basilica to begin your tour. Take a guided tour of the church's opulent interior, which is plated in gold and embellished with many frescos and sculptures created by the best late-nineteenth-century local painters. The church, with its gigantic dome and exquisite Neo-Renaissance design, is one of Budapest's attractions. See the Holy Right, a strange relic made up of the mummified right hand of Hungary's first king, Saint Stephen, who ruled the kingdom in the 11th century. Much of Hungary is said to have been converted to Christianity thanks to Saint Stephen. You can enjoy the ambience of the Christmas Market in front of the church (from November to January) and learn about the rich Hungarian Christmas traditions.

From here, cross Elisabeth Square and Deak Square to reach Pest Inner City. The major Lutheran Church, which was built in the 19th century, has a beautiful front. Take note of the outstanding statue of the church priest who rescued the lives of around 2000 Jewish children during WWII. Make your way through the historic Old Town to Saint Anne's Church, Budapest's Baroque jewel. This church, which has been kept since the 18th century, boasts incredible embellishments, a massive organ, gorgeous altarpieces, a rich oak pulpit, and different woodwork. The marble figure of Christ may be found on the church's front.

After that, proceed to the Danube riverfront. The Medieval-Gothic Great Blessed Queen Church, Pest's oldest Catholic church, is located here. Throughout the years, this church has hosted numerous royal weddings. Discover Roman ruins, old Medieval foundations, brilliant 14th-century fresco remnants, and stunning Renaissance marble carvings from the early 1500s once inside the church. Finish the tour on Vaci utca, Budapest's most famous shopping boulevard.
