Tour Overview

Experience the thrill of visiting America's only real castle! Chapultepec Castle houses Mexico's most representative historical heritage from times such as the conquest, Empire, Independence, and Revolution.

You will learn from your expert guide, who will take you to both incredible museums. Learn about Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg's life behind the walls of this castle, which is decorated in classical European ornamentation. Walk through its halls and up the marble stairs, admiring the sculptures and busts of historical figures such as Emperor Cuauhtémoc and conqueror Hernán Cortés.

During the colonial period, Chapultepec was valued as a place of rest and relaxation because it was built on the foundations of what was once Moctezuma II Xocoyotzin's residence, a palace that housed numerous viceroys and distinguished visitors for over two centuries. However, after a powder magazine exploded in the mid-eighteenth century, causing significant damage to the building, it was decided that the new palace would be built on top of the hill, directly on the site of an ancient chapel dedicated to San Miguel Archangel.

Following your visit to the National Museum of History, also known as the Castle of Chapultepec, you'll make a quick stop for lunch (not included in the price) before continuing to the famous National Museum of Anthropology, which houses Pre-hispanic evidence of the Mexica, Maya, Toltec, and the country's ethnic cultures throughout time. The museum is still the most visible of the enclosures that protect Mexico's indigenous heritage.
